RV Roof Leaking During Rain
Seeing water drip inside your RV during a storm is stressful. Immediate action is key to preventing extensive water damage and mold growth.
Locating the Source
Water travels, so the drip inside might be feet away from the entry point on the roof. Look for the nearest penetration: a vent, skylight, antenna, or the front/rear cap seam. Often, water runs along a rafter and drips at a light fixture or speaker.
Temporary Fixes
If safe to do so, covering the suspected area with a tarp or using specialized emergency RV roof tape (like Eternabond) can stop the leak until permanent repairs can be made. Do not use silicone caulk, as it prevents proper sealants from adhering later.
Long-Term Repair
A technician will inspect the lap sealant (Dicor) for cracks, voids, or separation. They will clean the area and apply new self-leveling sealant. For larger tears in rubber roofs, a patch or full coating might be required.
⚠️ Safety Notes
- Roof surfaces are extremely slippery when wet. Exercise extreme caution.
