RV Water Pump Runs Constantly

Your 12V water pump should only run when a faucet is open. If it runs continuously or cycles on and off ('burps') when no water is being used, you have a problem.

Internal Leak

The most common cause is a leak somewhere in the plumbing lines. Check behind the toilet, under sinks, and the outdoor shower. Even a small drip can cause the pump to cycle.

Check Valve Failure

The pump has an internal check valve to hold pressure. If debris gets stuck in it, water flows back into the fresh tank, pressure drops, and the pump turns on to repressurize. This cycles endlessly without an external leak.

City Water Fill Valve

If your fresh water tank is filling up by itself while connected to city water, the valve that switches between 'City' and 'Fill' might be leaking internally, causing the pump to act erratically.
